Hello, I’m Brian Tracy and today I want to talk to you about some life habits that every successful person knows.
Looking to build on your professional and personal success and your productivity and outcomes, looking at the habits and approaches of some of the world’s most successful people can help you choose the changes you need to make, to enjoy the same success that they have.
Here are a few key life hacks that successful people have mastered and you can too.
Learn from your mistakes and see challenges as opportunities.
In every person’s life there will be challenges, obstacles, and barriers that arise. These challenges can be a surprise and feel daunting. But know that difficult times are a great opportunity to learn about yourself, your responses, and your solutions. You may not always make the right calls when faced with a challenge, but smart people know that mistakes are yet another opportunity to learn, improve, and grow.
Focus and fix.
Today, smartphones and online pinkness cause us to be distracted frequently. Too often we start a project when a beep or a text causes us to take a break, lose our focus and spend too much time restarting those key tasks. Instead, focus on one thing at a time, turn off the distractions and devote the right amount of time to get all the work done, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be working on multiple projects, but that you will organize your schedule and create realistic to-do lists to focus on the highest priority at work. When something doesn’t work, successful people decide to fix it, don’t dwell on it, and move on.
Always be learning.
Bill Gates, Barack Obama, JK Rowling, and Sheryl Sandberg. all praised the importance of reading as a way to decompress, learn, and keep your minds sharp. Life long learning is a powerful asset to have, leaders who think they know everything are bound to fall victim to pride and fall soon competence. Reading allows you to explore new insights, and genres, and history, and Joy’s.
when you want to be successful, you need to be honest with yourself and others. That means not making excuses when things go poorly, or the outcomes are not what you expected. Instead successful people, own up to their role what they’ve learned, and how to move forward and just like successful people don’t try to place blame when things go wrong, They also don’t take all the credit when things go well.
Find a great team.
If you want to be successful, surround yourself with people who are talented even more talented than you, and have complementary skills to your own, this goes for your professional and personal relationships. At work having people around you who know what they’re doing, can contribute to your success, and fill needed gaps in your leadership skills. In your personal life be sure to surround yourself with people who are caring, and candid, and insightful. In both cases you want people around you, who will challenge your beliefs, support you when things go badly, and care about your personal and professional success.
You want to be sure that you set reasonable, attainable, measurable, and inspirational or challenging goals. If you are a business leader, this means being able to articulate what you want to do? why it will be meaningful to achieve it to you? and how you plan to go about doing it?
For your team this provides clarity, purpose, and motivation. Employees who understand why their work matters and how it fits into the larger organizational strategy are more likely to be engaged in buy-in to your organization.
Trust your intuition.
There are plenty of times when it makes sense to follow the proven path, but every so often there are times when conventional wisdom needs to be thrown out the window. As a successful person you will know when to follow your instincts, and not blindly follow what everyone else beliefs to be the smart safe or reasonable path. This is not being reckless its following your passion, and believing in your self.
Maintain focus and drive.
Early to bed and early to rise works for some people. Know yourself and be sure to create the structure support and schedule that you need to succeed. You need to maintain your energy Drive and passion to continue being successful, but that means knowing when it is time to turn off the work and focus appropriate time and energy on yourself.
Success does not come overnight. It means continuing to persevere and maintain both short and long-term perspectives on the work, whether it’s for your business or yourself. This means forgoing major decisions when your emotions are high. seeking counsel when needed, and making the decisions that need to be made, not avoiding them.
